Carina Oriel ’16

Carina Oriel ’16 is the Head of Rise New York & the Fintech Platform Lead at Rise, created by Barclays, where she leads the bank’s ecosystem engagement with early and growth-stage startups to leverage emerging technologies and support Barclays' open innovation strategy. Carina oversees the Rise New York innovation hub, consisting of 80+ startups, scaleups and VCs, which provides fintechs and the broader NYC community with access to ecosystem connectivity, mentorship, and thought leadership opportunities. She's heavily involved in the NYC startup ecosystem as an Expert for Primary Ventures, a Champion for the Microsoft for Startups Champion Network, and a mentor for Blue Ridge Labs by Robinhood Foundation.
 
While at Archer, Carina was the President of the Diversity Club, Gallery Director for the Eastern Star Gallery, News and Features Editor for The Oracle, was a board member for the Student Store and Family program, played Varsity Volleyball, and holds a patent through her work on the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam. After graduating, Carina stayed involved as a member of the Archer Alumni Board for 4.5 years, two years of which she was the Advancement Committee Chair. Carina holds a B.S. in Business Administration, with concentrations in Finance and FinTech from Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business (Class of 2020).
 
In 2023, Carina was honored as one of NYC Fintech Women's Inspiring Fintech Females at the New York Stock Exchange. This Fall, she was selected for Money20/20's Amplify program for top emerging leaders across the finance and fintech industries.
